In 1879, the Art Institute of Chicago was founded as both a museum and school for the fine arts. It has since grown into a place of active learning for everyone, with options to take a tour, explore on your own, or attend an event. Dedicated to investigation, innovation, education, and dialogue, the Art Institute of Chicago collects, preserves, and interprets works of art of the highest quality, representing the world's diverse artistic traditions, for the inspiration and education of the public. In 2015, works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jasper Johns were displayed, further evolving the Art Institute as a museum with depth and a contemporary perspective.
