Théâtre du Châtelet

The Théâtre du Châtelet opened in 1862 at the Place du Châtelet, directly across the courtyard from its twin building, the Théâtre de la Ville. Originally named the Théâtre Impérial du Châtelet, it has undergone a series of transformations in name, purpose, and infrastructure over the years. It has also been the site of important moments in musical history, including the premiere of Maurice Ravel's ballet Daphnis et Chloé and the recording of Shirley Horn's album I Love You, Paris.

Today, the Théâtre du Châtelet seats 2,500 guests and hosts notable concerts and dance performances. It also seeks to engage audiences of different backgrounds and levels of exposure to the arts by offering interactive workshop courses and discounted ticket prices to guests under the age of 28. With its imposing architectural style and captivating performances, the Théâtre du Châtelet has been a key part of Parisian artistic and cultural life for more than 160 years.
