LA Opera

Since its 1986-87 inaugural season, the LA Opera has emerged as one of the largest opera companies in the United States. In addition to staging world-class performances at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the LA Opera is deeply committed to community engagement and educational programming aimed at increasing accessibility and interest in this genre of classical music. With its high-quality performances and outreach programs, LA Opera strives to inspire an appreciation for artistry across all arenas of modern society.

Art Poster Contest

In 2018, LA Opera held its second annual art poster contest for college arts and design students in Southern California. Students were invited to submit original artwork inspired by the Opera's spring production of Verdi's Rigoletto. The winning submission was featured on the cover of the show's performance program and displayed at the home of LA Opera, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. This year, the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) was the first area high school to participate in the contest. Every student who submitted his/her entry received tickets to the performance and winners were invited to attend opening night and the cast supper after the show.
