Since its creation in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has become a landmark cultural and musical event. For two weeks each summer, the event draws in over 250,000 visitors to experience performances by top jazz and blues musicians on the shores of Switzerland's Lake Geneva. In addition to historic performances by artists such as David Bowie and Stevie Wonder, the Festival site offers a variety of programming dedicated to creating spaces for emerging artists to flourish. Over the years, the Festival has expanded greatly from an intimate event hosted at the Montreux Casino to one spread across three famous venues within the Montreux Music and Convention Center. This expansion has provided opportunities for countless visitors to experience the power of jazz and blues music.
