Ecole du Patrimoine Africain

L'Ecole du Patrimoine Africain (EPA) was established in 1998 in Porto-Novo, Benin. The university's original mission was to train cultural heritage professionals to properly conserve and manage the holdings of African museums. Today, EPA's mission is considerably broader, encompassing library and archive materials, cultural property, and intangible cultural heritage. Further, EPA offers a professional license in cultural heritage management.

In the decades since its founding, EPA has trained more than 2,000 African heritage professionals and hosted exhibitions, led programs across the continent of Africa, organized international conferences, published reports, and conducted public surveys. L'Ecole du Patrimoine Africain relies on these critical programs to foster a comprehensive understanding of diverse African heritages. Its goal is the betterment and advancement of all African nations and a strengthened cultural conservation sector.
