École Jeannine Manuel

The French international school — which operates one campus in Paris and another in London – offers a robust academic curriculum that is rooted in the belief of the power of a bilingual education.

Promoting Bilingual Education to Bring People Together

Ecole Jeannine Manuel

During World War II, French-born American Jeannine Manuel traveled to Europe to join the Free France resistance movement. During her time there, she witnessed horrific conflict, which she believed to be rooted in fear resulting from cultural misunderstanding. Upon returning to France at the conclusion of the war, she was compelled to create a school in Paris that would foster intercultural appreciation, tolerance, and empathy through bilingual education.

This vision has guided École Jeannine Manuel since its founding in 1954. The school's original students were the children of NATO leaders who were dedicated to Manuel's vision of a future world free of conflict. Today, École Jeannine Manuel's student body ranges from preschool to high school students and is composed of nearly 80 different nationalities. The school champions an immersive curriculum that emphasizes foreign language proficiency, engagement in global affairs, International Baccalaureate degrees, and pursuing higher education through global best practices. In 2015, a second school was opened in London to offer more students the same rigorous and transformative curriculum.
