La Petite Bibliotheque Ronde

La Petite Bibliotheque Ronde, or "The Little Round Library," opened its doors to the public in 1965. Anne Schlumberger, one of the few prominent female patrons of the time, traveled to the United States and witnessed the power of children's community libraries. Upon returning to France, she supported the creation of La Petite Bibliotheque Ronde in Clamart, a suburban Paris community that  at the time was home to a large number of young children. In the decades since, the library's significance has not waned. Other than closing for a few weeks in 2006, it has continuously provided access to knowledge and innovative programming for children and families. Today, La Petite Bibliotheque Ronde is open every day of the week to ensure that children have full access to its impressive collection of books and digital media.
