Shaping the Future of the Media Industry

USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism

The late Ambassador Walter H. Annenberg made a significant donation to the University of Southern California in 1971 to establish the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. Today, the school offers doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees in fields including communication, journalism, public diplomacy, and public relations. Students participate in an interdisciplinary curriculum that emphasizes leadership, entrepreneurship, and service, and they receive career development and assistance through the Annenberg Career Link, which posts 3,500 exclusive jobs and internships every year.

In 2014, Annenberg Foundation chairman/president/CEO Wallis Annenberg gave a generous gift to the school in the form of Wallis Annenberg Hall, which includes the state-of-the-art Media Center and Digital Lounge. The Media Center houses student-run digital, television, radio, and public relations operations while the Digital Lounge provides a space for students to create content and hone their technology skills.

USC Annenberg is also home to an array of research and investigative centers and programs, including the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, the Norman Lear Center, and the Center for Health Journalism, as well as the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy (CCLP). Established in 2007 through an Annenberg Foundation grant, CCLP allows students to conduct innovative research on the future of news, information, and technology, and to participate in professional development programs. The center embodies the school's mission to use communication and journalism-based education to shape tomorrow's thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
