The international nonprofit organization builds simple and affordable housing for low-income families all over the world.

Constructing New Beginnings

Habitat for Humanity

Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity and its 2 million volunteers — including President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn — have helped and worked alongside almost 60 million people build or improve their homes. The organization currently operates in nearly 1,400 communities across the United States and in more than 70 countries around the world with a goal of creating decent, safe, and affordable shelter to those in need. To be eligible, families must communicate their willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity during the building process and they must demonstrate their ability to pay a mortgage. Habitat for Humanity also renovates existing houses, helps people to repair their own homes, and works with local communities to supply emergency housing for people affected by natural disasters. Brick by brick, the organization is building hope, dignity, stability, and community.
