Habitat for Humanity

Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is devoted to building simple and affordable housing for low to very low-income families all over the world. This nonprofit organization relies on partnering with volunteers and future homeowners throughout the home-building process.

Bringing Families Home

Habitat for Humanity

In the past 40 years, Habitat for Humanity has built homes for more than one million families. They work in nearly 1400 communities across the United States and in approximately 70 countries around the world. Each year, more than 2 million volunteers help Habitat for Humanity build homes for low-income people that lack safe, affordable shelter. In order to be eligible, families in need of affordable housing must communicate their level of need, their willingness to partner with Habitat during the building process, and demonstrate their ability to pay an affordable mortgage.

Habitat for Humanity also renovates existing homes, helps people repair their own homes, and works with local communities to supply emergency housing for people affected by natural disasters.
