Frida Kahlo Museum

Known as Museo Frida Kahlo or La Casa Azul ("the Blue House"), the Frida Kahlo Museum is one of Mexico City's most popular destinations. The museum — which is the home in which Kahlo was born in 1907 and where she died in 1954 — was established in 1958 when Diego Rivera donated the residence and its contents. The museum preserves the grounds of the home while showcasing personal items and some of Kahlo's most famous works. Visitors gain insight into one of Latin America's most influential artists and her lifelong fascination with Mexican culture and identity. Kahlo and Rivera's final wishes were that their conjoined legacy be owned by and for the benefit of the people of Mexico. In accordance, the Frida Kahlo Museum returns the home and its contents to the community that the couple so cherished.
