Creating a Space to Appreciate Concrete Art

Espace de l'Art Concret

Espace de l'Art Concret was established in 1990 to display works of art demonstrating the trends of geometric abstraction. The core of the collection was formed in 2000 as a result of the Albers-Honegger Donation – a multi-stage donation to the French state by Gottfried Honegger and Sybil Albers – and was recognized as a National Treasure. Today, Espace de l'Art Concret is home to more than 700 works, an expansive collection built around the leaders of the Swiss and French concrete art movements.

Since its creation, Espace de l'Art Concret has remained responsive to innovations in the field of geometric abstract art and continues to open the collection to younger generations and less traditional practices. In addition to hosting world-class exhibitions, Espace de l'Art Concret offers Artist in Residency placements for artists, dancers, and writers. Through this work, the organization seeks to promote exchanges and dialogues between today's creators and the long history of concrete art.
