In 1970, the Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) began producing off-off-Broadway shows and has since evolved into one of Broadway's most highly regarded theaters, responsible for more than 600 world, American, New York, and Broadway premieres. Under its current leadership, the MTC is committed to the creation of new plays and musicals through an intensive Artistic Development Program. MTC's many accolades include 27 Tony Awards, seven Pulitzer Prizes, 48 Obies, and 40 Drama Desk Awards. The MTC also has a range of education programs for students that foster a love and appreciation for the theater.
