The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) is dedicated to collecting and exhibiting diverse contemporary works, and is committed to adapting to changing definitions of "art." The museum exhibits work created after 1940 from across the globe, and leads the way in original scholarship and interpretations of these works. MOCA has two Los Angeles venues – MOCA Grand Avenue, which hosts the museum's main galleries; and the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, a former police car warehouse renovated to hold 40,000 square feet of exhibition space. Utilizing these two public spaces, MOCA encourages audiences of all backgrounds to enjoy exhibitions and participate in educational programming. In this way, MOCA encourages audiences to garner an appreciation for – and to critically engage with – contemporary art.
