Amplifying Aspiring Artists

Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation

The Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation was founded in 1969 by artist Robert Wilson to support and nurture the development of aspiring artists. The Foundation engages in diverse artistic programming, including the Artist Residency Program, the International Summer Program, and the Inga Maren Otto Fellowship. Each program provides participants with collaborative and creative environments to explore individual artistry, learn from others, and gain exposure to traditionally underrepresented artistic perspectives. Additionally, the Foundation is deeply committed to creating initiatives tailored to educators, students, families, and young artists. These initiatives establish relationships with teachers, professors, families, and community groups in order to expand access to supportive and patient artistic environments.
