Located in Jerusalem, the Israel Museum was founded in 1965 and welcomes nearly 1 million visitors each year who marvel at its collection of almost 500,000 objects from prehistory to present day. Highlights include the Shrine of the Book (which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls), the Model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple Period, the Model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple Period, and the Billy Rose Art Garden (which contains sculptures by Auguste Rodin, Pablo Picasso, and Henry Moore). The Ruth Young Wing for Arts Education offers engaging educational programming to more than 100,000 students each year, encouraging them to connect to the arts, Israel's culture and history, and, most importantly, each other. These activities seek to foster intercultural understanding between the country's Arab and Jewish communities.
