For centuries, the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart have inspired and fascinated generations across the globe. In 1880, almost 100 years after Mozart's death, the citizens of Salzburg, Austria established the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg Foundation to make Mozart's life and work accessible by offering concerts, maintaining the three Mozart museums, and supporting academic research.
Concerts include the annual Mozart Week, seasonal performances, concerts for local students and families, and the annual Dialogue Festival, which places traditional and contemporary art in conversation to imagine a new way forward in classical music. The Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg's museum offerings are also comprehensive, and the foundation preserves the world's largest collection of original letters, portraits, and instruments of the Mozart family. Through its expansive work and formidable library, the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg builds a bridge between traditional and contemporary music while enabling audiences to understand Mozart from a dynamic array of perspectives.
