UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation

In 1945, a group of volunteers at UCLA established the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, seeking to raise funds from private-sector sources to support potential breakthroughs in cancer research. The organization expanded its mission with the 1976 opening of the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, which became Southern California's first comprehensive cancer center, the highest possible designation from the National Cancer Institute. Today, with more than 500 scientists and physicians, the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center has been lauded for its rigorous, transdisciplinary research and high-quality patient care.

The UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation stands as the most critical and effective channel to raise private funds for cancer research at UCLA, accomplished through major gifts, tribute gifts, special events and community activities. Run by a cadre of esteemed business and community leaders, the foundation aims to fund groundbreaking research and improve existing programs that focus on such areas as cancer survivorship or targeted therapies.
