The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was opened by Oscar-winning actor Paul Newman in 1988 with the purpose of allowing seriously ill youth to experience companionship and joy that comes from going to camp. Decades later, there are 30 programs around the world that serve these children — as well as their siblings and parents. One of these programs is L'ENVOL, the European offshoot of Hole in the Wall. L'ENVOL was founded in France in 1994 with the support of Newman, and has maintained its close relationship with the American organization. Over the years, the SeriousFun Children's Network has provided more than 1.5 million camp experiences for children and their family members.
