The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was opened by Paul Newman in 1988 with the purpose of allowing seriously ill children the experience of companionship and joy that comes from going to camp. Since its opening, the camp has expanded to increase its capacity, extending its more than thirty programs to include healthy siblings and parents of the affected child. One of these programs includes L'ENVOL, the European branch of Hole in the Wall. L'ENVOL was founded in France in 1994 with the support of Paul Newman, and has since maintained its close relationship with the American organization. Since their beginnings, the Network has provided a home, support, and assistance for thousands of seriously ill children and their families.
