Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is a global leader in patient care, cutting-edge research, and educational programming.
Tia's Hope was founded in honor of Tia Palermo, who passed away in 2012 after struggling with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Following her death, Tia's husband and four daughters founded Tia's Hope to fulfill her vision that there should be special moments for children forced to spend their youth inside hospital walls. Tia's Hope creates Memory Moments for children in seven partner hospitals in Los Angeles, Louisiana, Nevada, New York, and Texas. These Memory Moments are designed to be unique, memorable experiences that will stay with and serve as a source of hope and joy for children and families experiencing challenging circumstances. Additionally, Tia's Hope organizes larger-scale special events at partner hospitals, including sporting events and charity walks. Through Tia's Hope's work, Tia Palermo's family channels her spirit as a "woman of action" who strongly believed in the importance of childhood joy for all youth, even those suffering greatly.
