Wildfire Disaster Relief

In recent years, Southern California has faced devastating wildfires.  These wildfires have scorched hundreds of thousands of acres of land and displaced countless families in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.

Supporting Wildfire Relief Efforts and Los Angeles Firefighters

Wildfire Disaster Relief

Over 11 million people live in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties, two of the most populous and dense counties in Southern California. Although both areas are unfortunately familiar with annual wildfires instigated by a combination of dry Santa Ana winds and little precipitation, the past few years proved to be devastating to the region.

In response to some of Southern California's worst wildfires, GRoW has been committed to supporting affected communities.  In 2017 and 2018, GRoW joined fellow Annenberg Foundation Directors, pledging to support the recovery efforts in the region affected by the wildfires.

In 2019, Gregory Annenberg Weingarten again joined his fellow Annenberg Foundation trustees by supporting the Los Angeles Firefighters.   GRoW donated to the LA Fire Department to help underwrite the cost of new equipment to better protect firefighters from carcinogens as the firefighters fight disasters such as West Los Angeles's Getty Fire and Simi Valley's Easy Fire.  GRoW then directed additional funding to the official charity of the Los Angeles Fireman's Relief Association called the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighters Fund.  This nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping firefighters and their families in times of need.
