When the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) opened in 1911, it was home to only nine works of art. Today, the city's oldest fine arts institution preserves and showcases a collection that features almost 50,000 objects, which include paintings, sculpture, antiquities, decorative arts, and textiles. The collection is particularly notable for its French and American art, photography, glass, and African and Japanese works. NOMA is also home to the acclaimed 12-acre Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, which is adorned with more than 90 magnificent installations. In addition, NOMA provides education dynamic programming for families, students, and community members to enjoy all that the ever-expanding institution offers.
