A Historical Institution Transformed

San Domenico School

San Domenico School was founded as California's first independent and Catholic school in 1850. The school rapidly became an educational and cultural center for young Catholic women in the state. In recent years, San Domenico School has undergone a number of drastic changes. In 2015, the school welcomed its first co-educational freshman class, and in 2017 the school made the decision to become a completely independent school. Today, the school is home to approximately 700 students of all faiths between kindergarten and 12th grade. Students participate in an interdisciplinary academic curriculum, award-winning athletics, and robust arts programming. Furthermore, students are encouraged to build service learning projects that emphasize social justice, equity, and environmental preservation. San Domenico School strives to produce students who are thoughtful, critical, and inspired to create a better world.
