Activism Through Journalism

Fostering Media Connections

Fostering Media Connections operates three primary programs dedicated to elevating the stories and experiences of youth involved with the foster and/or juvenile justice systems. The Chronicle of Social Change is the organization's flagship news site and works strategically to encourage other news outlets to share the stories that it publishes to increase public and political support for reforms. The organization's second program, Fostering Families Today, is a bimonthly print and online magazine that serves a readership of resource families and kinship caregivers in order to ensure that they receive up-to-date information regarding trauma-informed care practices. The third project, the Youth Voice Program, provides training in journalism for youth involved in the foster care and/or juvenile justice systems. The organization has been widely recognized by groups including the National Association of Social Workers, for its critical work at the intersection of social work, activism, and journalism.
