The Tisch School of the Arts was established at New York University (NYU) in 1965 to provide conservatory style training in theater and film. Within a few short years, the School rapidly established its place as one of the best in the nation, expanding its departments to include dance, theater design and lighting, and cinematic studies. Today, students can obtain a BA, BFA, MA, MFA, MPS, or PhD in more than 15 diverse areas of study, ranging from dance and performing arts, to musical theater and public policy, to dramatic writing, to game design.

Students are admitted through a rigorous and comprehensive application process. Upon enrolling at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, students join a community of the renowned professional artists and scholars that make up its faculty and alumni.
