The Tisch School of the Arts was established at New York University (NYU) in 1965 to provide conservatory-style training in theater and film. Within a few years, Tisch established its place as one of the best in the nation, expanding its departments to include dance, theater design and lighting, and cinematic studies.

Today, students can obtain a BA, BFA, MA, MFA, MPS, or PhD in more than 15 diverse areas of study, including dance, musical theater, public policy, dramatic writing, and game design. Admitted through a rigorous application process, students join a community of distinguished artists and scholars that make up its faculty and alumni. From the school's location in lower Manhattan, students gain exposure to and have the opportunity to intern at some of the world-renowned arts institutions, rounding out their immersive educational experience.
