Since 1976, Friends of Foster Children has worked to enhance the quality of life for foster and emancipated youth. Central to the organization's volunteer-powered services is its scholarship program, which offers college and vocational scholarships for foster youth or emancipated individuals living in Los Angeles County. Each scholarship recipient is assigned to a volunteer mentor who serves as an advisor throughout their education. Since 2003, the scholarship program has provided support for students at a wide range of top California universities, including UCLA, UC Berkeley, and USC. Additionally, Friends of Foster Children operates events throughout the year to offer resources and support during the holidays and back-to-school months.
