Intertwining Athletics and Activism

Chris Paul Family Foundation

In 2005, NBA player Chris Paul and his family established the Chris Paul Family Foundation as an outlet for their social justice and philanthropic activities. The Foundation's work ranges from educational initiatives to athletic programming to crisis management support in cities such as Flint, Michigan and Compton, California. Additionally, Chris Paul and his family established an endowment at Lake Forest College in honor of Chris' late grandfather who attended the school. The endowment offers two scholarships each year: one academic and one athletic. Central to the Foundation's work is its commitment to building meaningful partnerships with groups ranging from small grassroots organizations to large corporations such as Nike. The Chris Paul Family Foundation has received the NBA's Community Assist Award three times in recognition of its impactful and dedicated approach to leveling the playing field for youth across the country.
