Cultivating a Dance Community in Los Angeles

L.A. Dance Project

Led by artistic director Benjamin Millepied, L.A. Dance Project (LADP) features 12 full-time professional dancers who perform new creations, new commissions, and historic reconstructions in collaboration with musicians, composers, filmmakers, and designers. Since Millepied —  a former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet — founded LADP in 2012 as an interdisciplinary and highly experimental dance collective, the organization has performed in more than 100 cities across five continents in some of the world's most famous venues. LADP's dance studio in Los Angeles' Arts District hosts classes, community events, a residency program for L.A.-based artists, and a summer dance intensive for community members as well as the studio's most advanced students.
