Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS) was established in 1918 as a client-centered, impact-driven organization. More than a century later, JFS remains committed to the residents of San Diego, including meeting the diverse needs of today's community. JFS offers a broad range of programming, including, but not limited to, meal delivery, youth mentorship, healthcare case management, aging life care, legal services, and loans.

JFS is also a regional leader in addressing issues affecting refugee and immigrant communities. JFS's Migrant Family Shelter is a crucial part of the San Diego Rapid Response Network, a coordinated approach to serving immigrant, asylum-seeking individuals and families in crisis. The Migrant Family Shelter served 17,000 people in 2019 alone, offering safe shelter, medical screenings, emergency legal counsel, travel assistance, and hot meals. In all, JFS's widespread network of services, reaching nearly 40,000 community members each year, embodies two core principles: to meet people where they are and to offer support that both uplifts and empowers.
