Named for philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, BroadStage opened in 2008 to the public in collaboration with Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California. BroadStage offers exceptional performances in dance, film, theatre, jazz, opera, and film. With a capacity of only 500 seats, BroadStage's Mainstage is simultaneously grand and intimate, allowing guests in the theater's rear seats to maintain a clear view of artists on stage. Nearby, the Edye is a 100-seat black box theater showcasing innovative works by emerging artists, while the East Wing is an indoor/outdoor venue that hosts additional performances. The institution's education and community-outreach programs engage 15,000 children, parents, educators, and community members each year through events designed to make the arts accessible to all.
