Cultivating Breathtaking Talent in Art and Design

Royal College of Art

The Royal College of Art was established in 1837 as the Government School of Design. As the college's influence and reputation began to grow, its name was changed and its mission expanded to include art as well as design. In 1967, the college was granted its Royal Charter and university status. For nearly two centuries, the Royal College of Art has been at the center of innovations such as the New Sculpture and Pop Art movements, and has produced distinguished alumni who went on to be leaders in fine arts, fashion, architecture, and design, including David Hockney, Teresa Tang, James Dyson, Clare Waight Keller, Ridley Scott, and Alan Rickman.

Today, the college offers master's and PhD programs in 18 diverse subjects, partners with some of the world's most renowned organizations in the visual and performing arts, and shapes students to become professionals who are both individually creative and collaboratively innovative. With its rigorous academics and unique professional opportunities, the college has consistently ranked as one of the world's leading universities for art and design.
