Founded in 1915 by concert pianist Edith Hatcher Harcum as the Harcum Post Graduate School, Harcum College has provided tangible opportunities for individual success in accordance with its central purpose as "the college of possibilities." Its core values include civility, community service, empowerment, excellence, integrity, and respect for diversity. Established as an all-female university preparatory school, Harcum College became the state's first junior college to confer the associate of arts and the associate of science degrees in 1956, and the school began admitting men in 2003. Today, the college enrolls more than 1,700 students each year and offers more than 20 majors.
