Paving the Path to Educational Achievement

Philadelphia Futures

As it exists today, Philadelphia Futures is the result of a 2011 merger between White-Williams Scholars and another organization, Philadelphia Futures. White-Williams Scholars began its work in 1800 as the White-Williams Foundation and was dedicated to serving young women. Over time, its focus evolved to provide low-income students with the resources needed to pursue their high school academic dreams. Separately, Philadelphia Futures was founded in 1989, with a similar mission to support low-income students throughout high school and on the path to a college degree.

In 2011, the two organizations merged to maximize their shared resources to pursuit their common purpose. Today, Philadelphia Futures supports high-potential, economically marginalized youth in Philadelphia as they progress toward and through college. It does so through programming like the Sponsor-A-Scholar program, which provides individualized support for students starting in 9th grade and all the way through college graduation. Philadelphia Futures also offers the College Connection Program, which guides students through the college application process for two years, and the College Success Program, which helps students navigate their undergraduate experience. Through these central programs and several special initiatives, Philadelphia Futures carries on its original mission and White-Williams Scholars' longstanding commitment to educational opportunity for all.
