Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) serves more than 15,000 individuals each year through its legal services, which include anti-Asian discrimination efforts as urgent priorities. For its diverse AANHPI communities, the organization provides impact litigation, policy advocacy, leadership development, and capacity-building support.
Founded in 1983, the legal aid and advocacy group has been a leader in social justice and continues to be a strong voice for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. AJSOCAL works with the most vulnerable members of ethnic enclave communities while pursuing laws and public policies that ensure their well-being. Nonprofit legal aid and advocacy group prioritizes services for under-resourced individuals who speak limited or no English as well as immigrants who require aid for anti-Asian discrimination, citizenship and immigration issues, domestic violence and family law, housing rights support, healthcare navigation, and education. Through these programs and services, AJSOCAL protects the rights of communities of color, builds multiracial coalitions, and works to shape a more equitable American society.
AJSOCAL is based in Los Angeles, with additional California offices in Anaheim and Sacramento, and is part of a network of affiliated organizations in Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
