Zócalo's mission to create a welcoming intellectual space and engage a new and diverse generation in the public square has never been so relevant than in today's social and political climate, where our public sphere and global digital conversations are increasingly polarizing. Founded in Los Angeles in 2003, Zócalo Public Square is an ASU Knowledge Enterprise creating unhindered opportunities that promote conversation between people from all backgrounds and age groups. In 2022, Zócalo pieces will be syndicated in the Los Angeles Times, in addition to their journalism appearing in 290 media outlets worldwide. Since its founding, Zócalo has hosted more than 650 events in 33 cities in the U.S. and beyond, including New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Shanghai, Guadalajara, London, and Berlin. As a nonprofit organization, Zócalo frequently partners with educational, cultural, and philanthropic institutions and public agencies.
