March 14 - July 2, 2023- Pastels de Millet à Redon Unveiled at Musée d'Orsay

The once-in-a-lifetime exhibition Pastels De Millet à Redon will present from d'Orsay's archives 95 pastel works by some of the greatest artists of their time: Eugène Boudin, Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Jean-François Millet, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Piet Mondrian, Odilon Redon, and many more.

Gustave Caillebotte, "Le Nageur", 1877, pastel sur papier, Musée d'Orsay

Jean-François Millet, "La femme au puits", vers 1866, pastel et crayon noir sur papier beige, Musée d'Orsay

Many of these drawings have never left the dark archival rooms at the museum due to their sensitivity to UV light. After the exhibition, they will be returned into the darkness of the archives.

The exhibition was initiated by the president of the Musée d'Orsay and Musée de l'Orangerie, Christophe Leribault, and curated by Caroline Corbeau-Parsons, Curator of Drawings at Musée d'Orsay. The Pastels De Millet à Redon art book, the first of a new book series focusing on the museum's collection, will be available at the d'Orsay and in bookstores worldwide.
