Met Opera's Saturday Matinee Radio Broadcasts, a Long and Thrilling Tradition

Online, over the airwaves, or via satellite, listeners can hear dazzling performances by today's most celebrated artists as well as legendary singers from the company's past, all originally captured in live broadcasts spanning nine decades of Met history. 

Since 1931, the Saturday Matinee Radio Broadcasts have delighted audiences with full opera performances transmitted live from the stage at the Met in New York City. To date, 1,800 Met broadcasts of nearly 200 different operas have been performed. The 2022-23 season, which runs through June 10, does not disappoint, with a range of classic operas sure to please the most devoted supporter. Broadcast globally, the weekly series has been honored with dozens of awards for excellence in broadcasting, including several Peabody awards, radio's top honor.
