11th Annual Loving Hands Mother's Day Healing Luncheon Supports Grieving Mothers

Loving Hands Community Care hosts will host its yearly event for bereaved mothers in Los Angeles on May 12.

Ten years ago, Kathy Wooten lost two sons to gang violence, 52 days apart. In an attempt to break this tragic cycle that impacts too many communities, Wooten founded Loving Hands Community Care, and she holds an annual event timed to Mother's Day to help women who have suffered a similar loss. Over the course of the day, participants are comforted, inspired, and supported by a wider community of bereaved mothers. Through listening to speakers, engaging in dialogues, and watching artistic performances, mothers are given a space to openly grieve, remember their loved ones, and imagine a way forward. By reminding mothers that they aren't alone, Loving Hands strives to transform Mother's Day from a day of unthinkable grief into one of support and healing.
