The National Memorial for Peace and Justice is the first of its kind – dedicated to victims of lynching and public torture throughout America's complex and challenging history. The Legacy Museum is an in-depth exploration of the history of racial violence, segregation, slavery, and modern mass incarceration. The museum is constructed on the former site of one of America's largest slave markets, where structures for warehousing and transporting slaves once stood.
