No Act of Hatred Can Match the Power of a Community Determined to Heal

Over the course of ten days in the Spring of 2019, three historic Black churches in Louisiana were destroyed by acts of arson.

The Community Foundation of Acadiana has led the way for rebuilding efforts through the creation of the St. Landry Church Fires Fund, which Gregory Annenberg Weingarten has committed to support- specifically to the Greater Union Baptist Church and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

More than just the monetary means to restore these structures, this support indicates that no community exists outside of the greater community that includes all of us. No place of worship is immune from tragedy, and no act of hatred can match the power of a community determined heal, rebuild, and practice their faith.
