November 20 – December 13: A Classic Story Comes to Life on the LA Opera Stage

Opening November 20, LA Opera presents Rossini's beloved comedy Cinderella (La Cenerentola). In this classic tale, true love conquers all — despite the obstacles presented by a pompous stepfather and two self-absorbed stepsisters.

GRoW @ Annenberg is honored to support this beloved rags-to-riches tale. In La Cenerentola, the spunky heroine (no damsel in distress here) is presented with an opportunity to nab the most eligible bachelor in the land and outwit her social-climbing family in the process. Fast-rising operatic stars Serena Malfi and Levy Sekgapane are featured as the fairytale lovers, alongside the world renowned Ildebrando D'Arcangelo as Cinderella's mysterious benefactor. Rossini master Alessandro Corbelli returns to the LA Opera stage as the stepfather who tries to foil the happy ending. Opera lovers are delighted that LA Opera has returned in order to bring this story to a live audience.

New Virtual Options!
LA Opera has adopted a temporary vaccination-only policy in addition to requiring masks, however, guests will have the option to watch Cinderella live from home. LA Opera will be offering two live streamed performances of Cinderella (Sunday, Nov. 28 at 2pm and Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7:30pm) for audience members who are unable to attend an in-person performance, or prefer to watch from their home at this time. As these two performances will be live streamed from the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, they will not be able to be re-watched. To welcome families to the performances, the Nov. 28 and Dec. 12 matinees will feature special activities for children during intermission on the Music Center Plaza, and on Nov. 28 the livestream will also be broadcast on the outside big screens on the Plaza. Access to these performances are available on the LA Opera's website.
