Friends At Mafundi's Second Annual Watts Black History Poetry Jam will take place at the Watts Happening Cultural Center in the Watts Coffee House interior courtyard and feature young poets and spoken word artists ages five to twenty-one reciting original works. Registration opened in early March for aspiring young artists to submit their self-recorded original work and closes midnight on April 15. After commitee review, finalists will be notified on April 18. All finalists are invited to the Watts Happening Cultural Center for an Awards Ceremony that will be livestreamed for special guests. For all other guests, the ceremony will be rebroadcast on the Historic Watts Facebook page on April 29. First, second and third place medals and cash prizes will be awarded in each category.
