Afghanistan National Institute of Music Receives International Support

On December 13, 2021, after a brief stop in Qatar, hundreds of ANIM students, faculty, staff, and immediate family members traveled to the Portuguese capital, where they were welcomed to begin a new life and reestablish their world-renowned music school.

The orchestra also has received significant support from notable music figures in the international community. Most recently, Yo-Yo Ma visited and performed with the orchestra in March. In May 2022, the Juilliard School is presenting ANIM founding director Dr. Ahmad Sarmast with an honorary doctorate at Juilliard's 117th commencement ceremony.
