Emmy-Winning TV News Anchor Christine Devine Joins 15th Annual Loving Hands Mother's Day Luncheon

The Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization provides a communal space for bereaved mothers to grieve, heal, and support one another during a challenging holiday weekend.

After the death of her two eldest sons in early 2008, KathynWooten founded Loving Hands Community Care. A life-long resident of Watts, California, Kathy is committed to facilitating healing for women who have experienced an unthinkable tragedy: the loss of a child.

Held on May 7, the day before Mother's Day, the 2022 uncheon focused on the importance of self-care after experiencing such imaginable grief. Loving Hands expanded its reach again this year outside of the Los Angeles region, flying in mothers from Louisiana, Ohio, and Georgia. These mothers, who were all affected by violence and trauma, spoke about their journeys of heartbreak and healing. At this luncheon, and through year-round programming, Loving Hands offers a safe, loving, and sacred space that reminds mothers that they are never alone.

KTTV's Fox 11 News anchor Christine Devine attended the event, sharing her inspirational work with foster youth in Los Angeles.
