Daniel Pearl Memorial Lecture Series Returns In-Person to UCLA

Garry Kasparov will present the 21st annual lecture hosted by the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations on March 6.

The Daniel Pearl Memorial Lecture series, an important part of the UCLA Burkle Center's distinguished programming, will feature former world chess champion and democratic activist Garry Kasparov as its 2023 speaker. Through this lecture series — which has brought the world's most prominent journalists, scholars, and policymakers to its podium — the exceptionally gifted journalist, musician, and humanitarian Daniel Pearl is remembered as a symbol of hope who lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and the many others who were inspired and touched by his story. GRoW is honored to support the 21st annual installment of this lecture series, which will be held at Korn Convocation Hall in the UCLA Anderson School of Management and is co-sponsored by the Daniel Pearl Foundation and Hillel at UCLA.

The Burkle Center fosters research and promotes discussion of international relations, U.S. foreign policy, and complex issues of global cooperation and conflict. It brings the brightest minds in these fields to UCLA and encourages faculty and students to explore and shape debate.
