Peace by Tourism

The culinary arts and hospitality education initiative promotes peace and understanding in the Middle East by bringing Israelis and Palestinian students together for a unique professional training program in France.

Bridging the Israeli-Palestinian Divide through Food and Hospitality

Peace by Tourism

Peace by Tourism sends Palestinian and Israeli trainees to the world-famous Institut Lyfe (formerly Institut Paul Bocuse) in Lyon, France for a three-year BA program in culinary arts and hospitality management. Coursework is both practical and theoretical, encompassing everything from French cuisine preparation and banquet management to marketing and food technology.

The immersive program offers the Israeli and Palestinian trainees the opportunity to work together toward their shared goals. After completing their final projects, such as bringing a restaurant menu to fruition and catering their own graduation ceremony, students leave Institut Lyfe ready to implement their training on a professional level. The program provides assistance with securing placement for graduates at gourmet restaurants throughout Europe, further refining their skills in real-world settings before they return home to gain more restaurant experience and to promote peace in the Middle East.
