Supporting LA Opera and Opera Programming Throughout the Region

Opera League of Los Angeles

Los Angeles Opera League was founded in 1981 to foster appreciation for opera and support opera performances in Southern California. As a co-founder of LA Opera, the Los Angeles Opera League works steadfastly to facilitate its growth. Today, the League raises funds for Los Angeles Opera's programs by providing thousands of volunteer hours and some financial support. From running concession stands to serving as community outreach liaisons, these volunteers play a crucial role in supporting opera's diverse programming. Additionally, the Los Angeles Opera League offers financial support for LA Opera's signature educational programming. The League's bus fund covers the cost of transportation for students across Los Angeles County to experience the beauty of opera. Further, its annual Peter Hemmings Awards Dinner helps underwrite the cost of LA Opera's Opera Camp, through which students ages nine to 17 produce an opera from the ground-up alongside their peers.
