The Miami City Ballet (MCB) was founded in 1985. Today, MCB's repertoire consists of more than 100 ballets built on the style and technique of renowned ballet choreographer George Balanchine. Its performances reach more than 100,000 patrons in South Florida each year and the company tours extensively both throughout the United States and internationally. Further, MCB is home to the Miami City Ballet School, founded in 1993. The School is one of the country's largest dance training programs and offers extensive financial support to students through scholarships. It is committed not only to world-class training but also to diversity; the MCB School trains a robust roster of students from abroad, with an emphasis on international students from Central and South America. Through its acclaimed performances, renowned school, and network of community outreach, MCB serves as a national powerhouse in classical ballet.
