Israel Museum

The Israel Museum, located in Jerusalem, was founded in 1965 and welcomes nearly 1 million visitors each year. The Museum is divided into four wings: Archeology, Fine Arts, Jewish Art and Life, and the Ruth Young Wing for Arts Education. The former three wings contain over 500,000 objects from pre-history to the present day. These objects include the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple Period, and the Billy Rose Art Garden. The Ruth Young Wing for Arts Education offers engaging programming to more than 100,000 students each year. The Wing's extensive educational programming activities encourage students to connect to the arts, Israel's culture and history, and, most importantly, each other. These activities seek to foster intercultural understanding between the State's Arab and Jewish communities, beginning with the young students who walk through the Museum's doors.
