Médecins du Monde (or: Doctors of the World) is based in France and works in 64 other countries across the globe. The organization promotes 350-plus initiatives and programs devoted to improving social and economic equality as well as providing access to health services in underserved communities. Médecins du Monde's work falls under five priority areas: sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, crises and emergencies, health and environment, and migrants and displaced persons. Although Médecins du Monde was founded in 1980 to provide international aid only, the organization soon provided domestic aid as well, working to provide equitable healthcare in France's marginalized communities. Through a multitude of services, Médecins du Monde strives to elevate the position of the world's most vulnerable populations.
