Meeting the Needs of the Marginalized

Médecins du Monde

Médecins du Monde, or Doctors of the World, is based in France and works in 64 other countries across the globe. The organization currently promotes over 355 initiatives and programs devoted to improving social and economic equality, and providing access to health services in traditionally underserved communities. The work of Médecins du Monde falls under five key priority areas: sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, crises and emergencies, health and environment, and migrants and displaced persons. Although Médecins du Monde was initially founded with the intention of providing international aid only, that mission has since shifted. As of 1986, the organization provides domestic and international aid, working to provide equitable healthcare in France's marginalized communities. Through a multitude of services, Médecins du Monde strives to elevate the position of the world's most vulnerable populations.
